I don't normally look for celebs on facebook or myspace because it would be stupid for someone as high profile as a celeb, like Rob, to have any kind of profile under their real name. However, I did take a chance and looked for Rob on myspace and zillions of profiles came up. Some were obviously fake while others were quite convincing. I never really fully believed that the real Rob Pattinson could have friend-ed me on myspace, but a small piece of me wanted to believe it. Any who, upon checking my myspace a little while ago I found that a "Rob" I was friends with wrote a new note. After reading his note I found a link to your website in one of the comments. After reading all of the testimonies and your own personal story I realized how crappy people are today. I don't think this myspace was mentioned in any of the other posts, so here is the link to a very convincing Rob Pattinson myspace along with the note he posted.
If by chance the real Rob manages to find out about this amazing site y'all have created I hope he realizes that he has quality fans out there who are only looking out for him and his reputation. I really hope he can now separate out the "good fans" and the "bad fans." And I want to apologize to him for the things people have been doing on the Internet. As a young woman I am appalled that other women are stooping so low as to manipulate other women into believing that their dreams are coming true. I am honestly sorry for the way these women are acting and as a fellow woman, I am very embarrassed by their behavior.
We have to stick together ladies! We need to keep exposing these other women for what they really are, frauds and liars. Keep up the amazing work y'all are doing!

My story is similar to the main story. I stumbled upon the Robert Pattinson club site about a week before I actually started to chat. I have never been to a chat room let alone chat on one but after reading some of the conversations I though why not. So I put my first name only and that I was located in the USA and began to join the conversations before to long I was going to this site every night meeting new people who were fans just like me. That is when I met a great group of girls and Lilly. Lilly had the one hope we all had been looking for, the possibility of talking to Robert Pattinson. The reason we were all on the chat site to begin with. She told us stories of how they met and how they have known each other for a while and joking around with us. Thinking in the back of my mind that this is to good to be true and this was way to easy I went along with it and took the bait. So for over a week I kept going to this chat room talking with the girl getting to know one another and after Lilly asked us to create MySpace pages. I was thinking the same thing as everyone else "Oh my god could I really become friends with Robert Pattinson on MySpace." After a few days all hell broke loose.
Throughout all of this the only message that I thought I got from Rob was the e-mail. Some got to chat with him through MySpace or what they thought was him and others of us had no contact. For the people that are out there doing this to celebrity fans all I ask is that you find a new hobby. You are benefiting no one and hurting so many. For all the fans out there beware of who you speak to and trust out there. Good people are few and far between on the Internet sometimes you get luck in meeting some great people from all over (you all know who you are) and other times you get hurt. Watch your back and take care of yourselves.
I've been one of many on Facebook trying to "out" the Pattin-Posers
(aka: those trying to say they're Robert Pattinson for whatever
reason). One of the silliest was "Rob Tommy" whose profile pic was of
two of the stuntmen used in Twilight! He also posted a "baby pic" -
though the baby had big brown eyes....I commented that as far as I
knew, Robert had blue-grey eyes and he responded that no, the last
he'd checked, his were brown....
Ehrm. No LOL they're not.....Robert also famously has issues with
flying and this bloke had pics of "Robert" and his mum
skydiving....something I sincerely doubt Robert would be doing had he
a fear of flying that was genuine!
The most believable of the Pattin-Posers has been -------------- on Myspace
and Facebook. There have been two -------------'s over the past couple of
months. The first I was actually chatting with while he was creating
his Facebook page - I've since had a fan contact me to state that she
was actually the first -------------- and was just trying to help in some
way; was trying to use only things he'd said in interviews to answer
questions, etc. and indeed she as Rob was very polite, respectful,
etc. even asking that people who had commented that they'd just had
sex with him be taken off or banned because there shouldn't be that
sort of rumor floating around. A couple of days after the first -------------
account was deleted, a second appeared - this -------------- had NO
idea who I was (though we'd been speaking for weeks) nor had any idea
what things we'd discussed over the previous weeks -
The thing is, of course the fake Rob's will refuse to "prove"
themselves. It's the last thing they want, to be found out! I take
the line that if they're given enough rope, they'll "out" themselves
eventually just as -----------------I and II have both done. There are at
least three others currently claiming to be "the real Rob" but haven't
quite taken up the "rope" yet. They will, I am sure.
There's also a new "Randle Pat McMurphy" as opposed to the Randle
Patrick McMurphy which was, supposedly, the real Rob Pattinson
Facebook account (that had been "hacked" according to the news...).
My concern is two-fold: for Rob himself as the posers get out there
and take advantage of his fan-base, many of whom are so wrapped up in
the idea of speaking to the man, himself, they lose sight of how to
keep themselves safe - they lose all perspective.
Second: for the fan-base who have been targeted by the posers. So
they know which ones are fake, hopefully learning what to look for
should they need to "out" one taking advantage of others. As a
parent, I'd be mortified if my daughter was taken advantage of by a
man claiming to be a celebrity. As such, I'll do whatever needs to be
done to protect the innocent. GOOD for you for taking on this project
and helping "out" the fakes!

you're website...is absolutley amazing. i read your "how we came to be" and i really appreciate what you're doing. honestly if you go on myspace and type in robert pattinson, there are 31 pages. i was so overwhelmed when i saw them. but i got really confused at one point at finding "robert pattinson."
i was on yahoo answers and someone gave a link to a myspace that was said to be robert pattinson. the link was www.myspace.com/permetheusfree28 , i saw it had a odd default picture but it looked proffesional, so i clicked the fansite it was linked to. it didn't seem like anything a celebrity would have if they were to have a fansite. all it had were tons of pictures of him in shoots. no about me, nothing. i sent a message asking if it was really him. two days later i had a message back, i was so excited. i clicked it, only to find a reply saying
" jgdgkjdshkidfgjdgkmdflgkrhtdbnjgfjf" and that was it. i went back to it and EVERYTHING had been taken off. next day, i go back and its deleted. i go back to the original myspace (permetheus free) and its deleted as well.
i honeslty cannot at all comprehend WHY someone would pretend to be someone else, just so other people can be let down. it angers me so much and i think someone like the owners of myspace and facebook should do something about. like making peopel verify there the actualy person if its like a celebrity or something. like i said, thanks for telling everyone of the imposters! you're doing such a great job!!

I ran across your website and after reading everything, I was curious as to how you can tell they are fake sites. I know I had one I thought for sure was him, but the person really did not treat people very nicely and from every interview I have ever seen, Robert really just does not seem like that type of person. Well I deleted it and stupid me I came across two more that i found from other peoples profiles, like Kristen Stewart, who know maybe hers is a fake also. I just don't know. But one of them I found on your site as being fake. Well i also found this one, it is set to private so I cannot really tell if it is him or not. But look and see what you think, I have not requested to be a friend if it is his real one I guess he has it private for a reason. My name is Anya and I’m a 20 year old girl from Austria, Europe. I just wanted to tell you how great I think this project is. I mean a lot of people get tricked by people, who pretend to be a celebrity and that’s just mean. They get their hopes up and in the end their hearts are broken. No fan deserves to be treated like that. Something like that actually happened to me when I was about 14 years old in a chat room. It’s aweful. I have great respect for you for doing this project.

He not only pretends to be Rob, but he writes bulletins about how the first 5 people to answer to his bulletin would receive an e-mail of him, Robert Pattinson. Even worse, he wants to do that every month!!! So every month a girl will get her heart broken. This is just aweful. Please write something on your website about that. Please also write that Robert Pattinson had a myspace until the summer. That was a music myspace under the stage name “Bobby Dupea”. Someone figured that out and gave the link to the Twilight Lexicon. The Twilight Lexicon posted the link on their website, so of course a lot of people sent friends invites and messages to Robert, which made him delete it. He was never reading the messages or adding someone before he deleted it. He was obviously looking for privacy and he obviously didn’t want any fans messages. I don’t even think he would have enough time for that, so why should he make a myspace under his name to make it possible for fans to contact him there? If you would write that on your website, maybe people would be more cautious. I am a big fan of him as well, so I can understand the hopes, but I feel bad for the tricked people and they can always send him fanmail to one of his agencies. This way they know only the real Rob will get to read it and it’s more personal ;) I hope you don’t misunderstand my email and you won’t think that I think that the fans, who were tricked are stupid. They are smart, so that’s not what I mean. I just mean they can be sure he doesn’t have a myspace anymore and he’ll probably not get a new one. This way they will be safe from people, who are doing such bad things.

Okay, so one day I decided that I really wanted to look up Robert Pattinson to see if he had a music myspace page and I ran across an add in Teen Bizaar UK and it had said that Robs myspace was www.myspace.com/permetheusfree28. I looked it up and to my surprise there he was, Robert Pattinson!!! The profile looked like all the other ones up so I figured it was a fake. Sooo, I was on my Myspace IM and I wrote him. Two hours after I left him an IM he responded. We got to talking for a little bit and I told him I didn't believe that he was Rob. Then he did something weird. He used Skype and I actually talked to him on it. I was talking to the real Robert Pattinson on a video chat!!!! After that I started recieving letters from someone that sounded like a total stranger from the Rob I had been speaking to earlier. I knew it was someone else because the person was writing stuff like ya'll and sounded very country with the way he wrote. later I found out tha Someone got into his myspace and was writing me, sent me to a fake fan page that Rob supposedly had set up, posted the fake fan page on wiki answers and yahoo answers. This fake person had copied everything all the way down to the writings on the real robs page and was trying to get me to meet him in a bar in my home town that same week!!! (This person knows what I look like and what town I live in now) Two days later the fake fan site was deleted. I went back to the permetheus page and wrote Robert Pattinson about it. He told me he was hacked and was going to set up a fan page so people wouldn't bug him on his private myspace. About a week later his myspace was blank and there was a link to a fansite. The same person who made the fake profile wrote me an email from a different myspace account and was trying to tell me that he was the real robert pattinson? At this point I'm so confused that I can't fiure out who is the hacker and who is Rob but I guess it doesn't matter now because Rob took his page off of myspace and I know us as fans will never find it again. I think that it is crappy that people have no lives and have to pretend to be other people in order to make themselves feel better all while running Roberts Pattinson's name through the mud and maing people feel unsafe = (
So that is my crappy story of a celeb faker. Don't trust anyone on the internet unless you have proof of their identity.

first I'd like to say that i really like your website and that i believe this is so important to rob-crazed girls who are doing things like this blindly. so i thought i'd give you a heads up on something i saw...
On facebook Rob has a fan page moderated by someone ( whether its him or not, im not sure. although i find it very unlikely), and i was bored so i read some of the discussions. there is someone on there claiming that he is Rob and is confusing everyone. like you said, he's pretty accurate (im not a crazed fan so i don't know every detail of his life..), and he is answering questions on certain discussions. His is name on facebook is and it has a picture of his that doesn't really look like one from a photoshoot, but maybe I'm wrong. he's pretty convincing so i have no idea.
just thought i'd tell you, its causing a lot of discrepancy within the page.
